Ilijana Nikolova is a musician who as actively involved in old music.
She is of Bulgarian origin and from the age of five she studied the
piano in Varna. After completing her studies at a local conservatory
she continued at Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (harpsichord with
Zuzana Ruzickova). During her studies she played at series of
international masterclasses and several competitions.
Ilijana Nikolova is engaged in more different activities. For the
period of 11 years she was a member of chamber orchestra, she gives
concerts with ensemble L´estro Armonico and she works with an
ensemble of historical dances. Her repertoire includes music of
middle and high baroque period, rococo and early clasicism, as well
as modern composers of the 20th century. In 1989 she took part in the
festival "Russian Winter" and performed with Minsk Chamber Orchestra
the czech modern composition by Ivo Jirasek. Besides these activities
she transcribes for her ensemble and works as a pedagogue. Ilijana
Nikolova is a type of artists who continually aims for new forms of
co-operation among different branches of art such as dance and
theatre. Nowadays she performs actively in the Czech Republic and in
Europe.
